Part 1 (on-line): Required PRIOR TO ATTENDING CLASS

A)  Complete the ONLINE didactic 2.5 CE course from UCLA.

B)  PRINT and bring with you.

Course Length: Approx 1 hr

 

Certificate of Completion provided same day (upon completion of Part 1 and Part 2).

 

This course complies with the training and evaluation of cognitive and skills competency set forth in the California Code of Regulations, Title 22, Division 9, Chapter 2, Emergency Medical Technician Scope of Practice for the following requirements:

  • Finger Stick blood glucose testing and glucose administration
  • Administration of naloxone by auto-injector, intramuscular, and intranasal
  • Administration of epinephrine by auto-injector

 

All California EMTs are REQUIRED to complete a ONE-TIME MANDATORY TRAINING for naloxone, epinephrine auto-injector and glucometer.

Certificate of completion must be submitted IN ADDITION TO the EMT Skills Competency Verification for EMT Re-Certifications starting JULY 1, 2019.

 

(This training does NOT authorize an agency or individual EMT to stock/administer/use naloxone, epinephrine or a glucometer. An approved EMS Provider (Fire Department or a licensed Los Angeles County ambulance provider) may apply to the EMS Agency for approval to train and add a specific device/therapy to inventory for EMT personnel to administer.)
